COACHING STAFF
We pride ourselves at Shear Soccer by using coaches and tutors whose knowledge, passion and enthusiasm for sport is second to none.
We are unique in the fact that all of our coaches are either ex professional football players and/or have experience at working at professional clubs Centre of Excellence/Academies.
All our coaches are also qualified to at least FA Level 2, First Aid qualified, are CRB registered and hold Child Safeguarding certificates.
Adam is the Head Coach of Shear Soccer and directs all the sporting activities in our current programme. He has gained vast coaching experience in recent years having run many local courses for young footballers and has also completed two summers(1999, 2000) coaching and directing Camps and Academies for FC Seattle and Goal Line in the USA as well as a summer touring the UK as a coach for Manchester United Soccer Schools. In 2009 Adam visited Barbados to work at the ‘Kick Start Academy’ which included several youth international players. Adam is the founder of Chelston Junior FC, which had 16 youth teams and has also worked at the Centre of Excellence and Football in the Community programmes at Torquay United. Adam is a former Devon Youth team captain and Exeter City Youth team player who has also played for and managed Dawlish Town in the Toolstation Western League where he was also the clubs ‘Community Officer’. Adam is now registered with Stoke Gabriel Football Club as a player.

KEVIN WILLS - Community Sports Officer
Kev is an ex professional footballer who has played many football league games for Plymouth Argyle and Torquay United. When retiring from the pro game Kev went on to have an excellent non league career finishing at Truro City where he became the first player to score in both ends in the same game at the new Wembley Stadium in a 3-1 FA Vase final win against Totton. He now plays for Stoke Gabriel FC and is responsible for overseeing many aspects of our ‘Community Sports’ programme in his new career as a coach.
RAY COLES - Community Coach
Ray holds an FA Level 2 badge. Ray has vast experience with coaching and managing youth teams from Under 7 to Under 15. Rays particular strength is his ability to maximise the potential of younger players with his knowledge and enthusiasm. Ray currently works on our Holiday courses and at our ‘Pro Development Centre’
NICK MILTON- Community Coach
Nick works tirelessly helping to develop players who are looking to break into the professional game. He coaches older players at the Torquay United- Paignton Community College Academy as well as managing Torquay United U16. . Nick holds a UEFA B Licence and works in schools and holiday courses.
MATT MICKLEWRIGHT - Community Coach
Matt is working towards his Level 3 coaching badge. For such a young coach he has gained some valuable experience in his role at Exeter City ‘Centre of Excellence’ where he is the Head Coach for the Under 9s. Matt is an ex Exeter City and Torquay Utd youth team player who is furthering his Sporting Education by studing for a degree in Sports Studies at Cardiff University. Matt is a regular on our holiday courses and in our schools programme.
TOM CHISHOLM- Community Coach
Tom is a FA level 2 Badge holder having completed his A level studies. He has experience of working with players of Primary school age and is a regular coach at Denbury Athletic Under 12 s who have produced several players who have progressed to ‘Centre of Excellence’ football. Tom is currently studying Sports Studies at Southampton University. Tom is a regular coach on our holiday courses.

KENNY GRIFFITHS- Goalkeeper Coach
Ken started his playing career with Torquay United as an apprentice in 2000. He represented Torquay at U17, U18 & U19 level as well as several reserve and first team outings. While at Torquay Ken had the benefit of working closely with Neville Southall. He has since returned to work with the Centre of Excellence keepers at Torquay. From Torquay Ken signed as a professional with ambitious Hereford United in the Nationwide Conference. His potential as an 18 year old was clear and this soon resulted in Ken being invited to train with Premiership clubs Aston Villa and Leicester City. Several weeks were spent at each club working closely with experienced keepers such as Ian Walker (ex England) Tim Flowers (ex England) and Conrad Logan (current Leicester City keeper) and Peter Enckleman and Stefan Postma at Aston Villa. One of Ken’s highlights of his career was representing Wales at U19 level. After several seasons in the professional game Ken now combines a semi professional football career with running his coaching clinics. Kens semi professional clubs include Clyst Rovers, Taunton Town, Bideford AFC and Dawlish Town. He is current No.1 at Ivybridge Town. Ken has gained much experience and is now eager to pass on that knowledge to future goalkeeping stars.
