We are one of 12 centres based across the South West. The Development Centres are feeder centres to the Plymouth Argyle ‘Centre of Excellence’ based at Ivybridge College. Players who attend our centre will have their development monitored by the coaches and John James- Youth Development Officer and Phil Stokes - Skills Development Officer. Monitoring will be carried out by means of training sessions, inter centre matches and in some cases against the ‘Centre of Excellence’ team. If we feel that any player has the ability and a very good, hardworking attitude we will recommend that player to have a 6-week trial at the ‘Centre of Excellence’. The player will then be given feedback from their coach. If you have been successful you may be offered ‘Centre of Excellence’ forms, which means you will play for PAFC in a League programme. If the coaches feel that you are not ready, you will be told in which areas you need to improve on and continue at our ‘Development Centre’. We have had a handful of South Devon based players sign ‘Centre of Excellence’ forms during the last year. Plymouth Argyle have teams from U9 through to U18 that play at a high standard. For players to become part of these teams, they will need to show that they are better than Plymouth has already got. A lot of hard work and dedication is required! Some players may never get the opportunity to progress to the ‘Centre of Excellence’ but will still develop as players. Due to our ‘Development Centre’ status we reserve the right to ask any player at any time to work and progress away from the centre with the intention of returning when improvements shown.
